Zonta International Women’s Day 2024 – Woman of Achievement Award

Zonta members work together to improve the lives of women and girls in the local community and to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy.

I was honoured to be selected to receive the award in 2023 for my work in the local community assisting women and girls to pursue further education and skills through scholarships and courses.

That is absolutely awesome Janene – what a wonderful recognition for that you have done. So very well deserved. ME

Congratulations!! You are so appreciated for all your amazing work. RP

The leadership course I attended was exceptional, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I credit the Women’s Leadership and Development Program with providing some of
the skills I have learnt, that I will be able to directly transfer to this new role…The day of the last workshop I attended, I had found out I had been successful in being elected to the role of Mayor, and the women who attended the course were there to share in this momentous occasion, as I have been the first female to be elected to the role, in our city’s history. DM

This course has expanded my knowledge and opened up possibilities for me to grow.
I have lacked confidence and this group has helped me to start to build on
both knowledge and confidence. It was particularly good to join in small groups to learn and connect together. The courses have been presented in a variety of ways and have been offered at varying times. RH

I have been out of the workforce for 20 years while raising my children – I had the skills, but not the accreditations of them. I started my journey with the Women’s Leadership and Development program which was perfect timing for me to launch back into employment. I gained so much confidence with myself and my ability to best present myself. Within the month I had 2 jobs, both of which I still hold today. TF

I highly recommend and fully support the purpose and intent of the Women’s Leadership and Development Program as a springboard for women up upskill or gain recognition of prior learning.

It was so lovely to meet and get to know you at the Migrants' program in Whyalla organized by the AMRC on Sunday and Monday.

Hearing about all the work you do and have done in the past was very inspiring. I am still at awe as to how you are able to juggle all of that along with looking after your huge farm.

As I have been on the job hunt for quite a few months now, I am looking for all the help and services I could get to make myself more employable. Therefore, I am writing to ask you if I could use your service of reviewing CVs and making it more pleasing to the recruiter? Sometimes it seems like my resume is instantly rejected by the automatic recruitment process done by the computer itself, and doesn’t reach the actual recruiter. I would like to attach my resume in this email. If you do have the time to review it, I would appreciate some feedback and tips on how I can make it better. If you require anything further from me- please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thank you so much

I would just like to thank you for all your support and help since I came to Australia in 2015. You helped me through some difficult times back then and it is thanks to you for the position I am in today working at Port Lincoln so I would just like to say again thank you for all my opportunities.

I believe the Careers advice and support was a huge success.

A lot of PLTP employees have been within the organisation for many, many years and haven’t had the need to look for work, as they had been promoted within or were happy with their role at PLTP.

In saying this, many employees, including myself, have been out of touch with updated knowledge on where to and how to go about looking, applying and obtaining a job elsewhere.

With the help of Janene, many staff we able to draw on her knowledge to create or update outdated Resume’s, draft up Cover Letters, gain assistance with in-depth Job and Person Specifications and bounce ideas and gain useful feedback from Janene on how to approach and be successful in an interview.

The Career’s Expo was also a wonderful idea and should be an ongoing event. Although I was unable to attend, I had heard many PLTP employees attended and had the opportunity to speak to potential employers and hand their pre-prepared Resume to them on the day.

I would highly recommend these sorts of projects being run on a regular basis for not just the unemployed but for anyone that is looking for work, to gain that little bit of extra assistance, guidance and potentially confidence, to hopefully become successfully employed.

I have found the services to provided to PLTP staff by Janene to be extremely beneficial to our employees and of a high quality.

The prospect of seeking alternate employment after working with the business for over 27 years was very daunting but after meeting with Janene felt less overwhelmed with the situation. Janene was very friendly and compassionate, and I felt that I had her full support during the transition. Janene made herself available at all times to respond to queries to staff and I am very grateful that her resources were made available to us. I appreciated the weekly job alerts that Janene provided but most of all her positivity

Thank you very much for the work you have done on my CV.

It looks great, absolutely fabulous & very professional indeed. I enjoy the course thoroughly and upon completion i will send to you my new certificate.

Offshore marine company that i have recently applied to for the job as a first engineer is interested in hiring me for the short term project. Prior commencing the employment with this company i have to do a few tests and assessments and fingers cross i will be selected. I will keep your updated of any changes career wise.

Meanwhile have a nice day & wonderful weekend.

I just wanted to provide you with some feedback on the assistance you provided to me during my recent period of unemployment.

Firstly I was very grateful for you making yourself available to meet with me in person and discuss my current situation in detail. I walked away from that meeting feeling a lot more confident about my skills, and future employability thanks to your detailed critique of my work history and encouragement of my personal attributes. Even providing me with such a simple thing as understanding the difference between a CV and Resume added to the value of our meeting.

Providing me with additional points of contact within various private enterprises and Government departments, although not fruitful in the sense of finding employment, expanded my job seeking and professional association network considerably and has helped raise my employability profile.

Your suggested changes and refinements to my CV to better capture the attention of potential employers were most welcome and implemented. These amendments certainly helped me in gaining my current position with Port Lincoln Tuna Processors and have made it easier for me to tailor my CV for any future opportunities I may wish to pursue.

I found your approach very empowering and uplifting and without providing any sense of false promise. You are most certainly a lovely and very pleasant person to talk to and I sincerely appreciate the personal attention and support you gave me.
Thank you once again for all your help.
